The Future of TransportAzumah

In some circles, TransportAzumah is seen as a terrorist bus company. Uh oh, I just used the "T" word on our own website.

The Next Generation Of Mass Transport has an important role to play in the 21st Century. As such, we are setting up a standardized driver training program that will allow TransportAzumah to crush its opponents. In many cases, its opponent will not be a large competing bus company, but a bloated regulatory body or a government transportation entity (such as New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority) that seeks to provide services based on political clout instead of demand. We will acquire more equipment to service our contracts and scheduled services. We will push deeper into uncharted territories, setting up new ultra long haul bus services to service an aging population that will demand mobility longer than any other generation in American history.

In our region, scale is a big issue. Every bus service does not require a 35 or 40 foot bus. Some services require a 14 passenger van. Other services require a double articulated bus on a transitway. The easiest way to promote efficiency is to scale the solution to the problem. In the future, TransportAzumah will offer consulting services to transit agencies that want a real solution provided. After all, the vast majority of TransportAzumah's services are designed to operate out of the farebox. This requires that we not be wasteful in the implementation of transportation projects. We will pass that knowledge on to other transportation agencies to make sure that they make good decisions with our money.

It is said that the best defense is a good offense. While we believe that putting opposing teams under pressure is a great way to advance your position, it is one's defense that wins the game. As such, we continue to ratchet up our defensive position against the New York MTA's illegal operation over our Route 144 service on Staten Island. We have temporarily suspended service in that market to protect the stability of our company, but we will re-enter that market in 1st Quarter 2010 and we will shut down their illegal S89 service. The MTA's precarious financial position is due in part to its public service nature and there are laws on both the state and federal level that protect private companies such as ours from destructive and illegal competition by subsidized entities. In the future, our past spending will lead to the same allocations purchasing fewer government services. As such, it is extremely important to enforce rules and regulations that protect unnecessarily expenditures.

TransportAzumah seeks unique opportunities to facilitate mobility through different modes. Our new air arm, to be called TAZ Airways, seeks to simplify the provision of air service in key markets using regional jets (such as the ERJ-145) and smaller "big jets" (such as the MD-80). Tying in bus, van, rail, and air service will allow airports to increase their catchment area as well as their utility. In particular, smaller airports can double as "groundports" for regional ground transportation. In the future, energy for propulsion may not be as plentiful as it is now and voluntary conservation is critical to maintaining the quality of life is our region. New railroad technologies, such as Aerobus, could provide cities with a way to cheaply expand their rail systems without ruining their cityscape. Cutting edge operating techniques are even more important and concepts such as headway based scheduling promise efficiency and more attractive service options.

TransportAzumah is The Next Generation Of Mass Transport. Next generation providers must be able to stay one step ahead of the future and implement solutions that will allow future needs to be met as they present themselves. This is not easy, but it is necessary. If the service provider you use does not have such a philosophy, they will soon be obsolete.
